Medical Team


Staffed by a multi-disciplinary team of full time consultants, nurses, scientists, counsellors and administration staff, the Herts & Essex Fertility Centre is under the guidance of its Medical Director, Mr Michael Ah-Moye.

The Herts & Essex Fertility Centre, formally the Essex Fertility Centre, was founded in 1989 by its Medical Director Mr Michael Ah-Moye, who has worked exclusively as a specialist in the field of assisted conception since 1985. His initial experience was gained in the IVF Unit at Humana Hospital Wellington in London, which was the largest and busiest IVF unit in the country at the time. When he left in 1989 he was acting Deputy Medical Director. Mr Ah-Moye’s enormous experience and expertise in assisted conception has resulted in the delivery of thousands of babies. He has established the highest reputation for his meticulous and personal approach to the care of his patientsents.

Mr David Ogutu MRCOG
Consultant Gynaecologist & Fertility Specialist

Mr Ogutu underwent specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the Royal Free and North Middlesex University Hospitals and advanced training in Assisted Conception, Reproductive Endocrinology and Laparoscopic surgery at Kings College Hospital.

He joined the Herts and Essex Fertility Centre in 2011, where he specialises in assisted conception (IVF, ICSI and IUI), early pregnancy care, recurrent miscarriage and PCOS, as well as performing advanced gynaecology ultrasounds, including HyCoSy, Aqua Scan and 3D ultrasound.

Dr Ogutu is a member of the British Fertility Society (BFS), European Society for Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE), British Society for Gynaecological Endoscopy (BSGE), and the International Society of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynaecology (ISUOG). He is also on the GMC specialist register.

Miss Kamilia El Farra FRCOG
Consultant Gynaecologist / Fertility Specialist

Miss El Farra has worked in gynecology for 27 years and as a consultant for the last 15 years. She is a fellow of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists and has worked in IVF and assisted conception since 1992 at the Royal London and Barts Hospitals. In addition she has helped establish the Assisted Conception Unit at Queen Mary's, Roehampton. Her special interest is infertility, recurrent miscarriage, she is also an experienced laparoscopic surgeon with emphasis on endometriosis management. Further to her extensive medical training, she has a Masters Degree in Medical Law and Ethics.

We are delighted to have Miss El Farra now consulting at the Herts and Essex Fertility Centre.
