Counselling
We recognise that infertility imposes enormous emotional and psychological stress on individuals and couples. Difficulties encountered when trying to achieve a pregnancy can affect us in various ways. Feelings of anger, loss and isolation are certainly not uncommon.
Counselling can help you and your partner share these difficult feelings and experiences, and explore aspects of your life affected by your ongoing desire for a child. It may clarify areas of confusion and help you find new ways of coping with the situation. You may see the counsellor with your partner or on your own – which ever you prefer – at any time during or after your treatment.
Following the disappointment of unsuccessful treatment, counselling is available to help you work your way through the difficult feelings you may be experiencing.
Every couple undergoing fertility treatment will have the opportunity to undergo counselling: before, during and after treatment. Counselling is mandatory prior to treatment for couples undertaking treatment that involves the use of donated eggs or sperm, especially in view of the short and long term implications of the treatment. Counselling services are confidential.
Support counselling is free of charge. An appointment with our Fertility Counsellor may be made by calling 07930 824504. Alternatively, if you would prefer, we can provide you with details of independent counsellors.
