| Treatment Journey > Embryo Freezing |
 |
Stimulation of the ovaries often leads to the creation of excess embryos which cannot be transferred in the same treatment cycle. With your consent, good quality Blastocysts may be stored by freezing (cryopreservation) for possible transfer at a later date.
Our current policy is to only freeze embryos that have reached the blastocyst stage with few exceptions.
Knowing that you have the back up of an embryo or embryos in storage makes it easier for you to consider successfully reducing the number of embryos for replacement. The replacement of frozen thawed embryos can now give success rates that match those when replacing fresh embryos.
