The Herts & Essex Fertility Centre at Cheshunt, Hertfordshire was absolutely delighted to welcome Rebecca on her return visit in February 2009.  She appreciated her VIP status on this occasion much more than on her last visit 19 years ago: when as a budding embryo (full of promise even then!) she caught the discerning eye of the head embryologist  in our laboratory!

Rebecca was delighted to return with her proud mum, Lorraine.  One of triplets, Rebecca, with siblings Sam and Rachel were born on 2 May 1991 following IVF (then the Essex Fertility Centre at Buckhurst Hill.).  She enjoyed the tour of the laboratory, studied the intricate processes involved with creating babies like herself, while Lorraine marvelled at the changes that had evolved in the field of IVF. Personally, she was thankful that she had the treatment IVF 20 years ago which resulted in her wonderful triplets, but fully appreciated the move now towards elective single embryo transfer to avoid the difficulties associated with multiple births.

It was a particularly proud and poignant moment for four members of our current staff: Medical Director Michael Ah-Moye, Nursing Co-ordinator Liz Machin, Head Embryologist Andy Glew and Theatre ODA David Hubble who were the original team involved in the conception of the triplets! “Successes” like Rebecca, Sam and Rachel just improve with time. The Herts & Essex wish them every happiness.
